Think with your head. Feel with your heart.

Think with your head, not your heart.
Feel with your heart, not your head.
Don't be confused between the two.
This quotes are from Pastor Phil's Leadership files email that was sent this week. And I felt that this is often so true in life.
So many times in life we get confused between the two. We do things based on our emotions and not through our logical and intellectual means. And sometimes, we feel too mechanical, as if there is a set of rules of how should we feel imprinted in our minds.
When we do things based on emotions, we become very unstable and inconsistent. Because our emotions are also unstable. Life would be like a roller-coster ride. Sometimes going up, and sometimes plunging steeply and suddenly. When we go through life and think with our heads and not heart, the picture gets so much clearer. Its like what the Bible says in Job 15:11-13(the message bible)
Are God's promises not enough for you,
spoken so gently and tenderly?
Why do you let your emotions take over,
lashing out and spitting fire,
Pitting your whole being against God
by letting words like this come out of your mouth?

God promises are always good. His promises to Job are always enough for Job. But when Job is being led by his emotions(as you can rad in the earlier Chapters when he is quarelling with Eliphaz.) he begin to complain about his life and hate his life. Then Eliphaz rebuked Job with the verse above in red. Friends, so many times we get too emotional in our thinking that we often forget the good points and the positives of the situation. JOb is decieving himself at that moment and the Bible says in Proverbs that the greates fool is one who deceives himself.
Feel with your heart, not your head.
Second part of the quote of Pastor Phil is that we gotta feel with our hearts and not our heads. God has given us feelings for only one reason: "TO FEEL!!!" There is nothing to be shameful about feelings. Some people that we know says that they love God. Some says I know God loves me. That is so intellectual feeling. God wants u to feel loved, not to know that u are loved. It is not enough just to have a dad and u know that he loves u. You would expect him to express his love right? A hug, a gift or even just a plain nice conversation. Our heavenly Father is the same. He want us to feel Him, and His love. It is not good enough to just know that God is everywhere, closer to us than our very breathe. But we need to feel Him everywhere, feel that He is closer to our very breathe. Another Example would be the wind. If u are very hot, would it be enough just to know that the wind would take away the heat? No way. Kenneth always emphasises on this: "knowing is one thing, experiencing is another." we gotta really break out of the imaginary God we have in the MIND, and start experiencing the Jesus living in our HEART. Thats why when we responded to the altar call, we invite Jesus into our hearts, not our heads.
.
And of cos the last part, and most important part: Please don't be confused between the two.
The late Dr Edwin Loius Cole says that
A child feels, acts den thinks.
A youth acts, feels, den thinks.
But a mature person thinks, acts den he feels.
Dun mix up the process. Be a matured person.
Dr Cole also added that We can be young only once, but maturity will always be with us till we go back into heaven.
.
So I pray that E431 would be a cell group that really Thinks with our Heads, not our hearts. And Feels with our hearts and not our Heads. Amen!!!
